Betty White moved to Cabbagetown in 1984 and has lived here ever since. Born in the United States, she has lived and worked as an artist and art teacher in Canada since 1969. She has exhibited in Montreal, Toronto, United States, France and Mexico. Her work is in the collection of The Art Bank, Ryerson University, Reader’s Digest, and in private collections around the world. She apprenticed with Brazilian artist, Olly Reinheimer in Rio de Janeiro, and has taken private studies with conservator Andrzej Ornoch. She was a teacher at Montcrest School for 28 years. Michael is a St James Town artist. His paintings are often scenes of urban margins and outskirts, looking at the overlooked, and turning the ordinary into extraordinary. He explores colour, perspective, natural light in conjunction with artificial light, and natural forms contrasted with man-made forms. Michael’s mural art production includes the Neighbourhood of Nations Mural in St James Town (with Poonam Sharma & Catherine Tammaro), the Cabbagetown Neighbours Heritage Mural on Parliament Street (with Poonam Sharma), The Rose of Cabbagetown on Carlton St (with Ted Hamer). Local Cabbagetown artist Jack Grunsky is well known as an award-winning Canadian singer-songwriter and recording artist with 34 albums and CD’s of original songs and instrumentals to his credit, which include 3 JUNO award-winning CD’s from his 16 releases for young audiences. He has toured and performed internationally since the mid 60’s. Living in Europe for 10 years and studying art in Vienna, Austria, he also pursued a career in the visual arts and began exhibiting in numerous galleries on both sides of the Atlantic. Jack and his family have been residents of Cabbagetown since 1981. He continues to paint from his home studio. His preferred mediums are acrylic, oil pastel / oil stick & mixed media. Many of his works have been commissioned for theatre arts programs, posters and countless CD covers and have been acquired by private and corporate collectors world wide. "The themes in my works span a variety of subjects and styles … my interaction with urban realism, figures or landscapes to the internal dialogue of abstract dreamscapes." Victoria Hadden is a Cabbagetown-loving fine artist who has lived on Aberdeen for more than 20 years. The muse for her colourful style is the tulip; she paints large works on canvas in acrylic, and New Yorker style smaller works in pen & ink and watercolour. Her paintings can be found in international collections. Ten images, approximately 6x8 to 9x12, were created at her favourite warm weather spot, Coral Beach on Grand Bahama Island.
